Having been raised in the Commonwealth of Virginia with her roots in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, Dr. Traci Poole didn't travel far as she headed to Blacksburg, VA in 2002 to attend college at Virginia Tech.  During her junior year, Dr. Poole, who had become a diehard Hokie, made the difficult decision to leave her undergraduate career a year early to simultaneously began work on her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy (VCU) while finishing her Bachelors of Science degree in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry at Virginia Tech by 2006.

Upon completion of pharmacy school in 2009, Dr. Poole completed an ASHP/APhA-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency with an emphasis in community care from July 2009 to June 2010 with VCU School of Pharmacy and Kmart Pharmacy.  In August 2010, she ventured to Nashville to embark on her pharmacy career and joined the faculty at Belmont University College of Pharmacy as Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice. While serving in this role, she has earned additional board certifications in both ambulatory care and geriatrics, becoming 1 of 104 pharmacy practitioners internationally with this credential. She has garnered expertise in the fields of medication therapy management,  adult and geriatric internal medicine, immunizations, and developing clinical services within innovative care models such as patient-centered medical homes.  With an avid interest in the advocacy of the pharmacy profession, Dr. Poole is very active in the profession serving in multiple roles within the American Pharmacists Association and the Tennessee Pharmacists Association and mentors students as the faculty advisor to the accompanying student organizations. .

While attending pharmacy school, Traci began working for CVS/Pharmacy in October 2006 as a pharmacy intern.  Upon graduation, she continued with the company as a part time staff pharmacist working nights and weekends until April 2015.  From June 2011 to April 2015, she served as a clinical pharmacist under the supervision of Dr. Sid King at LivingWell by Cigna-Healthspring in Gallatin, TN where she developed innovative clinical pharmacy services for the onsite pharmacy located within the outpatient clinic and taught BUCOP fourth year student pharmacists on clinical rotations.

Dr. Poole is a resident of The Gulch, never takes herself too seriously, and is the proud mom of two Yorkies – sweet Beamer (after Frank, not the car) and sassy Lola!  She is a college basketball enthusiast, always up for an adventure, is a has-been athlete and beauty queen, and was honored as one of Nashville’s 25 Most Beautiful by Nashville Lifestyles magazine in September 2013.
